Australia is dedicated to protecting the rights of all animals under the principle that animals are not ours to eat, wear, experiment on, use for entertainment, or abuse in any way. Google Trends list Australia as the top country in the world for searching ‘vegan’ online, and is the largest growing vegan market in the world. Veganism is a way of living that excludes, as far as possible and practicable, all exploitation of and cruelty to, animals for food, fashion or any other purpose.
As parents, holster co-founders, Ben Nothling and Natalie Miller are aware of the impact the fashion industry can have on future generations and, as such, ensure holster is reducing its ecological footprint. Ben states, “Our passion for animals led us to producing 100% vegan footwear. Our mission is to prevent animal cruelty and embrace ethical processes by producing shoes that do not contain animal products.” Natalie, holster’s Creative Director, grew up in Noosa and, from a young age, has always loved animals, commenting, “This is very close to our hearts, which is why holster continues to support animal welfare causes. We are excited that veganism, fuelled by social media, is producing social awareness around ethical issues."
Holster offer a large array of footwear, including sneakers made of recycled ocean plastics, rubber and canvas; espadrilles and wedges using non-animal derived materials like metals and cottons; and jelly sandals that are REACH-certified. Shopping vegan is an ethical lifestyle choice to protect animals. When you wear holster footwear, you’re taking a positive step for the planet.
